The five-song release, out now on Mind Connector Records, examines the cycles and habits that characterise modern life. ^L_ has released Stories From the Ghost City, a new five-song EP that delves into the repetitive nature of everyday life with a hazy, trip-hop-inspired sound.
The September 18 release is available now on Mind Connector Records and draws influence from the routines that comprise so much of modern life. The project revolves around work, consumption, screens, sleep, and the eternal return to the same daily routine.
The EP is about a simple, familiar cycle: waking up, going to work, paying bills, buying things, coming home and switching off in front of the television before doing it all again the next morning.
^L_ does not present these routines as separate moments, but rather as one continuous loop. In Stories From the Ghost City, repetition is so woven into everyday life that it almost becomes invisible.
The project’s sound comes from the darker, more atmospheric side of trip-hop, taking cues from artists like Massive Attack and DJ Shadow. Over five tracks, ^L_ creates a deep backdrop for its observations on modern society.
The result is a release that is about familiarity, not spectacle. Stories From the Ghost City is about what it’s like to move through a world where the same patterns are repeated day after day and portrays contemporary life through sound.

Ghost City Stories is out now through Mind Connector Records.
