Electronic music, creativity and a sense of community came together in Ibiza as El Tony Mate celebrated the 2nd anniversary of its Producer Academy. With the support of Beatport, a Swiss natural energy drink brand, El Tony Mate welcomed 8 up-and-coming electronic music producers into its family.
Between the dates of 1st-7th October, 8 participants were chosen from a range of submissions received across Europe to escape their usual environment and take part in an immersive 1-week free experience on one of the most iconic electronic music islands with two globally recognised DJ/producers: SKALA & Kid Simius. This project forms part of El Tony Mate’s Culture Collective. The brand aims to empower new talent and the electronic music community as a whole. Its natural energy drink made from natural ingredients, provides a natural boost in energy throughout the day with its freshly brewed mate.
The group of 8 producers were able to come together in Metrica Studio to share inspirations, experiment with sounds and create original music. This project was an amazing opportunity for individual growth but quickly became a collaborative experience as they supported each other. They were also able to experience Ibiza’s energetic music scene with a night out at Hï Ibiza.
Ellen Fölmli, Culture Specialist at El Tony Mate says: ‘with the Producer Academy, we want to create opportunities for producers to learn, connect and grow beyond their usual home studio setup. Bringing them together with experienced coaches and other talents creates a completely different energy. Seeing how creative everyone became throughout the week and how inspired they left showed us exactly why we want to create spaces like this.’
The producers left having learnt so much more than just technical skills. They had new tracks, long-lasting relationships and new perspectives. El Tony Culture have many other projects to support the creative community including Selected Sessions which allows artists and communities to come together in unique places.
